Opera Style
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Finally I am sharing my fairytale travels in Vienna. It was nothing short of magical, romantic and sheer elegance and it leaves me wanting more.
This was my first experience at the Opera, a culture night and a must, it is. I still feel like it was all a dream…
My BIG NEWS is…. that I got engaged in Vienna!!!!!! Literally the night before we attended the Opera and I could not be happier, such a perfect city to get engaged, we were on a high throughout the trip and share unbelievable memories.
Today the Vienna State Opera is considered one of the most important Opera houses in the world; in particular, it is the house with the largest repertoire. (List of dramas, operas, musical compositions or roles which it can perform)…
The building is beautifully lit by night and the interior was elegant, opulent and my head was on a swivel trying to take it all in..(For film buffs, it is also featured in the latest Mission Impossible film.)
As we had planned out our activities before we even left for Vienna, I was delighted to squeeze into my tiny suitcase this red gown, which was lightweight and relatively little ironing needed and I was dying to get an opportunity to wear it!
An occasion to ‘dress up’ for me, is one of my favourite things to do…
The Opera performance was three hours long, so eat beforehand and try to arrive early to soak up the electric atmosphere, have a drink and avail of all the photo opportunities as photos and videos are not permitted during performance…
Most people wonder what is appropriate to wear to the Opera, while it is still a personal choice, I choose to treat it as an occasion and want to make it as memorable as possible, when your surroundings are this beautiful, it seems fitting to make an effort, shorter dresses and suits or slacks/jacket were mostly the attire.
Bare in mind, standing tickets go on sale from as little as 3 euro shortly before the Opera starts and its a great way to experience the Opera if you are on a budget, but three hours is a long time standing for me…
The Opera was in German but you have a discreet lit screen in front translating the performance in your selected language, which honestly I would have been lost without…
The orchestra were powerful, beautiful and mesmerizing, and the sheer volume the Opera singers can project their singing is to be marveled, as this is a gift not everyone possesses..
The stage is extremely large and the when you see the large volume of Opera singers, Orchestra and set designs, not to mention your surroundings, you can understand if the seated tickets are priced at a premium.
I loved every minute of it, and as I was celebrating it made it all the more special…
Hope you liked my travel post on Vienna State Opera, I have shared more photos on Instagram of my trip and hope to squeeze in another post or two on what we saw and conquered in Vienna…
